Help

Short how-tos for leaders and musicians, and a word for everyone singing along.

Import your songs

In Songs, choose Import. You can bring songs in from a photo of a printed chord sheet, from a PDF (saved from Word or a song site, or scanned) or from a Word document (.docx). Firezone reads them on your own device: nothing is uploaded until you check the song and save it.

From files: pick one or more, and Firezone tells you, file by file, which songs it added or updated:

  • A ChordView library file (.json), exported from ChordView. It brings your songs, your keys and your setlists.
  • ChordPro files (.cho, .chopro, .pro).
  • WorshipTogether song files (.txt).
  • Plain text with the chords on the line above the words.

You can also write a song yourself with New song: put the chords in square brackets where they fall in the words, like [G]Amazing [C]grace. Fill in the credits (songwriters, copyright, CCLI number): they show with the song wherever it appears. Add a Video link (an https:// address, such as the original on YouTube) to rehearse from: your team and invited musicians get a button that opens it in a new tab, while singers and the screens never get it. Upload only songs you have the right to use.

Make a setlist

  1. In Setlists, choose New setlist and give it a name and a date, such as “Campfire Saturday”.
  2. Add songs by searching for a title or an artist, and move them up or down.
  3. Give each song the key you'll play it in, and notes if you like.
  4. Choose Play to open the set in the stage view, or Play from here to start at a song.

Play on stage, and offline

The stage view fills the screen with the chart. Swipe, or use the arrows, for the next song. Change the key, set a capo, choose columns and the text size, hide the chords, or let it scroll by itself. Your own key, capo and notes for a song are kept for you, without changing the song for the rest of your team.

Offline: open Firezone once while you have a connection; on an iPad, add it to the home screen (Share, then Add to Home Screen). Your songs and setlists are kept on the device, so the stage view works with no network at all. Changes you make offline are sent when the connection is back, and your songs stay in step on all your devices.

Make a PDF

On a song or a setlist, choose Make a PDF. Pick the paper and the text size, fit each song to one or two pages, show or hide the chords, and for a set, add a cover page listing the songs. Then choose Download PDF. The credits are printed with each song.

Go live

On a setlist, choose Go live. Your stage view now leads the session: when you change song, everyone follows. The live panel has what you share:

  • The join code and QR code for singers. Show the room puts the QR code large on your own screen; with Gatherings, Join QR on the screens shows it on the TV or projector. Or read out the six-character code.
  • The invite link for musicians (Gatherings). Musicians you send it to get the chart in your key, with their own capo and notes, and need no account. If you change the key, their charts follow. They can turn off Follow to look ahead.
  • Parts and the control link (Gatherings). With parts on, phones highlight the current part and screens show it large. Give the control link to whoever runs the screen, as you're usually busy playing: they move between songs and parts with big buttons, the arrow keys or a presenter clicker, can blank the screen or show the join QR, and while they're connected, parts are on. No account needed.
  • Suggestions and messages. Turn them on, and singers can suggest a song or send you a message; they arrive in the Inbox.
  • Step by line (Gatherings). Turn it on on the control page (or in your live panel, for your own keys), and ← →, Page Down, the space bar or a foot pedal move one line at a time, on into the next part after a part's last line. Phones and screens keep showing the whole part.

If a code or link reaches the wrong people, replace it: the old one stops working at once. The session ends when you end it, or after 12 hours. Then the code and the links stop working, and the set is removed from guests' devices.

The screen link

With Gatherings, your team has up to 3 screens, such as one for the room and one for the band, each with its own permanent link and its own layout. Open a screen's link once on a TV, a projector or in OBS, and it shows the words of whatever your live session is singing. Add, name and remove screens in the team's settings, and choose each screen's layout in the live panel:

  • Centered for a TV in the living room.
  • Upper third for a projector with people in front of it, such as children in a classroom.
  • Stage monitor for a TV facing the band: the chords in the session's key above the words, the current part large, and the next part or song.
  • Line display for a screen the band reads from the stage: the song's parts, the current line large and the next lines in grey, the key and the clock, following each line as the operator steps them.

To connect a TV without typing the link, open firezone.dk/tv on the TV and type the 4 digits it shows under Connect a TV, in the live panel or in the team's settings, and pick the screen.

Blank the screen hides the words for a moment, on every screen. If a link gets out, replace it: screens using the old one stop at once, and the other screens keep theirs.

For singers

You need no app and no account. Scan the QR code the leader shows, or go to firezone.dk/join and type the code you were given.

You get the whole song in big letters. Swipe between the songs of the set; your phone follows the leader's song unless you look ahead. Join while you have a signal: that's when the set comes to your phone. If the signal drops later, you keep the whole set and swipe between the songs yourself, and your phone follows the leader again when the signal is back. The set is removed when the session ends.

In Settings you can change the text size, light or dark, the font (one is made for easy reading) and whether parts are highlighted. Invite someone nearby shows a QR code they can scan from your phone. If the leader allows it, you can also suggest a song or send the leader a message.
